Wayana to Canada in 2025
Ame and Susina have been traveling to Canada to study English at the Heartland International English School in Winnipeg for 10 weeks in May 2025. We are impressed by their perseverance. We still need an amount of US 5,000 to cover the costs of this training.
In December, the Chairman of the Board of NEFC visited the Wayana community in Lawa, together with his wife. This visit was special and successful. Every day, Conrad encountered a situation where he said, “How similar our ways of life are!” They enjoyed canoe trips, fishing adventures, walks through the jungle where every tree was named, meetings with church leaders from the village, and a presentation evening where they showed photos of the area where they live and how they live. We still need an amount of US 4,000 to cover the costs of this visit.
We have calculated a budget for these travels, and it is clear that they are not able to bring that amount on their own. Even for the Wayana community, this is out of their reach. Part of the budget has already been donated by some of our supporters every month. Another amount has been reserved at World Team Suriname. The Wayanas have promised to cover the costs for Ame and Susina’s local travel in Suriname.
May we ask for your help with the following amount?
We still need US$ 9,000 to complete the total budget.
In the Netherlands, you can donate via CAMA Zending: Project Wayana Canada
World Team Canada Office has opened a project fund for this trip so that donors can transfer their contributions.
