M & M in Suriname

Our life with the Wayana indians

Back to the bush

Since our last message we had a lot of weeks learning the Wajana language with a special event in celebrating the 50th  wedding anniversary of Roy and Margaret Lytle in the bush on the 11th of August.

The last two weeks of September we made a short trip to the Netherlands attending the celebration of Marjolein’s parents wedding anniversary. This was also a great time meeting our children in Holland and having a special evening with our home front.

Since we returned to Suriname we experienced two busy weeks shopping all our groceries (and other stuff) for living 4 months in Apetina (starting in the middle of November 2012).

We prepared teaching materials for a week of Bible school in Lawa and our contribution to the conference at Lawa in the first week of November. During the conference we expect to have 5 – 7 visitors from the city to stay in our house. This will be a busy, but fun weekend.

Now we are finally on our way to Lawa. Although it was wonderful to stay with our youngest daughter Elisabeth and her husband Rafael, we really are longing to return to our station in the bush.

Our luggage for Apetina is stacked in the hanger of MAF, more than 400 kilo. This is easily said but it takes a while to pack (more than 60 boxes).

We really had to decide what we would take along this time. Suppose we need some screws but we only packed some nails. This time we have to do with nails and the screws have to wait until the next trip. We will see what we will meet in the coming months.

In Apetina we expect to have an internet connection through our mobile phone equipment. We hope to keep you informed from the bush before the end of the year.

Warm greetings from  Marco and Marjolein
