Holiday season at Lawa

The last couple of weeks we’ve been praying with at least one person a day. This week our schedule is 3 times a day with different people. Some are new, some come back because they sense they’re not completely free yet.
imageJuly and August are the holiday months. The youth is back in their villages. Last week we had a full church. The first Sunday of the month we celebrate the Lords Supper together will all the believers of the villages along the upper Lawa river.image
The different groups will go on outreach to their family and friends to encourage them to stay close to Jesus, or to unbelievers to encourage them to invite Jesus in their heart.

Yesterday a boy off 16 came to one of the elders because he wanted to accept Jesus in his heart. What a joy in our hearts and in heaven. It is still so special to give them a Bible in their mothertongue: Wajana.

During the holiday season there are some sport competitions and other festivities. With the festivities comes the strong drink. Even children under the age of ten sometimes get drunk. Since many times there will be fights when people are drunk, Please pray for protection for the teenagers and others recently set free from demonic manifestations. We pray that they won’t go back to their old life, but stay close to Jesus. Pray that they will not give in to the temptation. Pray for good examples from the parents.image

Last week there was a boardmeeting of the church. There was one topic that needed to be adressed. The church building is getting too small for their congregation, so they want to extend the church. When it is finished it will be twice as big. They need to start right away because they want at least the roof to be built before the annual conference in November this year.image

The 8 concrete pillars are constructed, they will support the new to be build extensions of the roof. Now the church is looking for money to buy the tinplates. In total they need 3600 us dollars to finish the pillars and the roof. The believers contribute to the project, but the leaders also asked if we would ask churches in the USA to be willing to support them too. See the project outline:Project Church Building Lawa
Please pray with us to find the people our Lord will lead to support this project.

The leaders of the Lawa church decided to have a week of Youth ministry July 31 – August 7 for all the young people of the Wayana villages along the river. We have to get started working on the programm together with the youthleaders in the church. Last Spring we began youth ministry in the church which resulteert in a weekly youth gathering. Now we can reach out to the young people during summer holidays. Bible study in the morning, sport activities in the afternoon and music, singing and some movies in the evening. What a blessing to see this development in the Lawa church. Please pray for the right preparations and a week filled with Gods blessings on the youth. That young people May open their hearts to the savatipn of the Lord Jesus and that young lives will be (re)dedicated to the Lord.image
