Our life with the Wayana indians

Back in Lawa

Due to our schedule of visiting the Paramaribo for a few weeks after our stay in Apetina, we returned to Lawa last week.

During the last few weeks the deliverance ministery at Lawa continued. Every day the prayer team was able to help people to be set free from bondage of evil spirits. The Lord is sending people from different villages along the Lawa river to the church at Lawa asking for help.

After arriving at Lawa Anneke, Klasien and Ilse informed us about the developments of the last few weeks. When Marco left about 70 people were set free. Now the list had grown above 10. Training materials were developed for youth ministry and many personal stories of the people in the village and along the river were shared. Right after our arrival we joined the next prayer meeting in church.

Last weekend was very special since friends from the Netherlands came over to visit us at Lawa. We booked their flight with MAF in order to provide a flight back into town for the three ladies helping to share costs of transportation.

Even more ‘special’ became the flight when we noticed 15 minutes before the plane would arrive that a heavy rainshower covered the airstrip with a huge amount of water. While landing, the plane started to aquaplane which made it impossible to stop the plane before the end of the airstrip. The plane with its passengers came to a halt in the bush.

Everybody went over to the site to help the passengers get out and later to get the plane back on the strip. At the moment the plane is parked in front of our house. How grateful we are that everyone got out without any injuries.

That night the house was filled to the brim. People sleeping in hammocks and on stretchers.
Inspite of the accident we had a good time together. That evening we thanked the Lord for his safe keeping in a service in the church.

Next day Anneke, llse, Klasien and the pilot went by canoe to Tabiki, since the airstrip was closed because of the rain.

We keep on praying according to a schedule of one to three times a day.
Keep praying for deliverance of many still to come.
