For all the children along the Lawa river. In 6 villages a party was organised with the theme: ‘Do you want to exchange’? 

Last January all childrensworkers rehearsed this program.Especially the rehearsal of a small play had its hilarious moments. The Wajana are not accustomed to perform a play. To show emotions is unusual. So it was really a joy to see that the message was understood by the children and by the parents. Do you want to exchange? Handing over your mistakes, faults and frustrations to Jesus and recieve from Him a brand new life. 

The childrensworkers had beautiful songs chosen to be sung by the children, who did so wholeheartedly. This was followed by the giving away of the shoeboxes of Operation Christmas Child. This was the favorite part of the program for the childrensworkers, being able to hand out a box stuffed with presents to every child in the age of two ‘till forteen. In ten days time we had six celebrations where over 500 boxes were handed out. Previously flown into Lawa by MAF.

This month will start the follow up on the celebration in 8 villages: The Most Beautiful Voyage, a 12 week course about the principels of Gods Word. We are so grateful for all the Wajana childrensworkers that are so eager to teach the children of their tribe about Gods love for them. Since these kids go to the French schools, the Surinames Bible Society made an effort to send French copies of The Most Beautiful Voyage.

It was also a great joy for Anneke Kempers and Ilse van Dijk to see the growth in faith in the hearts of many Wajana’s. Both ladies are involved with the Wajana’s since the Seventies. They have been teaching about ‘Spiritual warfare’. This is not a new topic, there has been thorough teaching about this before, but now it seemed to land into open hearts. Ilse and Anneke had several sessions with women that wanted to confess their sins and make a clean start in their walk with God.

The past 7 months over 100 people were baptized upon their testimony of their faith in the ressurected Lord Jesus Christ. The leaders of the church see a growing spiritual battle in the lives of the teenagers and young believers. Please pray for guidance and discernment of the Holy Spirit as the leaders talk and pray with these people.

The week before we went to town Telesur started to build a new telecom tower on the mountain near the village. Soon we hope to get acccess to faster internet providing better ways to connect with family and friends.

At the moment we are in town. We look forward to the birth of our grandchild. When this has happened Marjolein wil assist the family for a number of days.
