Since November 21’ we are in Apetina. We had some busy weeks with a WaJanaTrio (WJT) Conference in the weekend of December 6’ and 7’ and a busy market of second hand cloths last week.
The WJT Conference was the first in an upcoming line of meetings where the tribal leadership of both Wajana and Trio will discuss their mutual interest concerning their own environment. Mayor discussion point was keeping the rivers clean from polution caused by goldmining. The Trio Granman mentioned his feelings of Wayana and Trio indians to be ‘one family’ living together and sharing mutual interest in the jungle of Suriname.
Last Monday we met with the preaching elders of Apetina around the concordance. We see that the training at the moment the concordance was presented was not sufficient. The people have no understanding of using the alphabet in order to find the words in the concordance. Here we see that Wayana is merely a spoken language with almost no writing history. We decided to have a meeting with the elders every Monday afternoon to see if we can help them to study the bible this way.In regard to the coming Christmas and New Years celebrations we wish you all blessed days of remembering and expecting the Lord’s presence in our lives.
